Welcome Back Darkwave
By Claudia | Live8 Jun 2012
While Bruno Coviello played the synthesizer in a rather relaxed manner, Shannon Funchess pummeled the drum machine like it was a matter of life and death and made the microphone literally glow with a voice even more powerful than the one on the album. Watching her perform onstage was like a post-apocalyptic female Mad Max come to life. The dictionary should show her face under the definition for “stage presence”.
My personal favorites were “IPC” and the encore “Angel Tongue”, which was the perfect end to a 50 minute high-energy show. Even more amazing considering, as Shannon told the audience, they had just flown in from Australia to Hamburg and went straight to the venue.
